Jillian Taylor Lerner



 

Jillian Lerner completed her PhD at Columbia University in 2006. She specializes in nineteenth-century visual culture, with an emphasis on art and technology, commercial attractions, and the archaeology of cinema. Dr. Lerner has taught courses in art history and theory at UBC, Barnard College, and Columbia University. Her current work-in-progress investigates phantasmagoria and waxworks in revolutionary Paris. 

Dr. Lerner’s scholarship has been published in the Oxford Art Journal and Grey Room. She is also the author of an original graphic novel, The Peerless Prodigies of P.T. Barnum, which explores the terrain of photography, show-business and advertising in 1850s New York.
